Q: How long has Big City Sounds been in business?

A: Big City Sounds (BCS) was initially formed in 1999 and over the next two decades provided DJ services to thousands of clients. However, like many companies, the business was closed during the pandemic of 2021. After a restructuring and an investment in new equipment and technologies, it reopened in 2023, bigger and better than ever.

Q: What services do you offer?

A: Generally speaking, we offer three services:

  1. Premiere Interactive DJ
  2. Spectacular Event Lighting
  3. Magic Mirror Interactive Photo Booth

But within each of these, there are many services or options available. Our DJ services, for example, give clients the option to go with a traditional DJ facade or the new 65-inch LCD DJ Booth. This state-of-the-art booth gives you and our team a variety of creative options to make your event one of a kind. With the LCD booth, we can display your custom monogram or show a photo montage. Q: Can I book the DJ service without the Photo Booth?

A: Yes, you may book either the Mobile DJ Service or Magic Mirror Photo Booth service without the other. However, many of our clients combine services to take advantage of the huge multi-service discount.

Q: What is the discount for combining services?

A: When you book two or more services, you receive 50% off the lesser priced service(s).

Q: What is the process for booking your services?

A: If you’re interested in our services, we ask that you take a minute and complete our online questionnaire, then give us a call to confirm our availability. If we are available, we can temporarily hold your date for a week and schedule a no-obligation consultation. The amount of the deposit is based on the services and packages you would like. Once we have your deposit, we will forward a contract. Simply sign and return it to finalize the date.

Q: Do you offer refunds for canceled events?

A: Once your date is booked, there is a two-week money-back policy. If you cancel your event within this time frame, we will return the deposit. After this time, the deposit and any other payments received are non-refundable. We must do this because weddings are typically booked well in advance, and when we hold a date for you, we turn others away.

Q: Do you accept credit or debit cards?

A: Yes, we accept various forms of payment through our PayPal account but there is a small processing fee for this service. Of course, we also accept cash, check, or money order.

Q: May I customize my music?

A: Yes, at Big City Sounds, we never forget that it is your day, not ours. While we hope that you’ll trust your DJ to read the crowd and use his years of experience to keep the party flowing, we always ask for a must-play list and even a do-not-play list. But if you want to pick every song played, we do give you that option.

Q: What is the difference between Dance Floor lighting and Event Lighting?

A: Dance Floor Lighting is the lighting set up directly around the DJ Booth that is used primarily to light the dance floor. We have various levels of this available depending on your goals. Event lighting is used to add ambiance to the overall room. One of the common ways this is done is with uplighting, but there are other great options for atmospheric lighting that we will be happy to discuss with you.
